LCpl Benjamin Whetstone Schmidt, 24, is remembered by family and friends at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery Friday, October 14, 2011. Schmidt, a San Antonio native and graduate of Alamo Heights High School played varsity football at Alamo Heights and attended Texas Christian University before joining the Marines in 2008. Schmidt was killed October 6 in Afghanistan's Helmend province.
