Calling all wounded warriors from Iraq and Afghanistan. A San Antonio based organization wants to give one lucky family a new home.
"We provide 100% mortgage-free homes for these wounded heroes and their families," says Casey Kinser, the programs director for the Military Warriors Support Foundation. The group supports wounded military members as they transition out of military life and into civilian life.
The home they are giving away in San Antonio has bright walls, fresh carpet and a fully equipped kitchen. Arched doorways and windows look out onto the backyard of the home which is the sixth home given away by the Military Warriors Support Foundation in Texas.
"A lot of times our wounded heroes -- they have difficulty. They can't provide for their family and owning their own home is not within their reach," says Kinser.
In just over a year, she says they have given away fifteen homes throughout the United States. "They've done so much for us. We're trying to serve those who've served us."
All you have to do is fill out an application at http://militarywarriors.org/openhomes and click on the picture of "Texas #6". The deadline to fill out the application is Sunday, April 3, at 11:59 p.m.
