SAN ANTONIO -- USAA’s Memorial Day Ceremony presented a honorable tribute to fallen soldiers. About 200 people were in attendance USAA for their annual Memorial Day Ceremony.
Guest speaker JR Martinez of Dancing with the Stars, reminded people of the true meaning of the holiday.
“It’s not about enjoying the day off that we get. It’s about remembering and honoring and appreciating those that never made it home,” Martinez said. "I spent two and a half years recovering and where I was given a second chance at life."
But most of the stories reflected on service men and women who didn't make it home.
USAA honored the memory of Lt. Florence Choe and her family - a reminder that women also give their lives serving our country. Lt. Choe was shot and killed in Afghanistan during her deployment setting up a medical station in 2009.
