A flu condition does not require a trip to the emergency room, but with so many in South Texas concerned about H1N1 scare, some residents are heading straight for the ER.

To find out more about the 'fast track' flu clinic, contact the South Texas Regional Medical Center at:

At times, the South Texas Regional Medical Center in Atascosa County is seeing double the usual number of ER patients, many of whom are concerned about the flu. So the hospital is offering a different option: an off-site flu clinic to fast-track patients concerned about flu-like symptoms.

Patients can get rapid flu test to determine whether or not they have the swine flu. The test takes 10 minutes.

So instead of waiting in the emergency room and possibly spreading the virus, patients can now be treated at this off-site flu clinic, which could inhibit the spread of the disease, control cost and be prepared for the worst.

The clinic accepts most insurances, or the cost is $65. It's open after hours from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
