AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas has been allocated more than 500,000 doses of the vaccine used to fight swine flu.

The Texas Department of State Health Services says the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is providing 506,200 doses of the H1N1 vaccine, as an initial two-week supply.

The state agency says Texas expects to receive 15 million doses of the vaccine by the end of January.

DSHS is providing the mist form to some registered providers to vaccinate children ages 2 and 3. The shot form will be offered to some registered providers to vaccinate pregnant women, children who are 4, and children ages 4 through 18 who are at higher risk.

DSHS, in a statement Tuesday, said some 12,000 Texas providers have registered to receive the vaccine.
