You might want to put down the butter flavored popcorn the next time it's movie night. A recent study published by Chemical Research in Toxicology says the buttery flavoring on your popcorn may trigger Alzheimer's Disease.
The flavoring, called Diacetyl, can stop the brain's natural mechanisms of clearing the disease. But Alzheimer's isn't the only thing it may affect.
According to researchers, the buttery flavoring is also linked to lung damage in microwave popcorn factory workers. To date, the effects have been seen only in test-tube studies.
