Fourth grade teacher arrested, accused of DWI after 'bad day' at school

Teacher charged with DWI, drug possession

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas -- An elementary school teacher was arrested and accused of driving while intoxicated early Wednesday morning.

Veronica Aguero, 34, was also arrested for marijuana possession and felony possession of a controlled substance, according to an arrest warrant.

Arresting officers said Aguero was found with bags of cocaine her in pant pockets and purse, as well as a marijuana cigarette in purse.

A warrant states a San Antonio Police Department officer stopped Aguero around 2:15 a.m. while she was driving 75 mph in a 60 mph zone on northbound I-37 near the Brooklyn exit ramp.

Her vehicle was also veering from its lane and struck a construction barrel with workers present nearby, according to the warrant. Police said her vehicle struck a cement wall, and an officer could reportedly smell alcohol on her.

Aguero told police she was not aware that she hit a barrel in the road. She also stated she had been drinking at a friend's house "because she had a bad day."

Her blood was drawn after she refused to give breath or blood samples at the time of her arrest, according to the warrant.

Aguero also has a previous DWI conviction, according to court documents.

She was listed as a fourth-grade teacher at Morrill Elementary School in Harlandale ISD Wednesday.

In a statement from Harlandale ISD, they said:

“Today the District received a report of possible inappropriate conduct by a District employee.  As required by law, the District reported the information to the appropriate state education agencies.  Because of the sensitive nature of these allegations and out of respect for the employee’s privacy, further comment will not be made.  The wellbeing of all Harlandale ISD students is paramount.  The District takes these matters seriously and will cooperate in any investigation.”
