SAN ANTONIO -- Not even a few minutes old and July Fourth already had its first alcohol-related death.

A 25-year-old man is now being charged for his girlfriend's death. Danny Wayne Johnson was allegedly flying down Bandera Road when he struck a truck. The collision tore off its front end and rolled his car several times before it went through a fence at Madison Elementary.

Authorities say 25-year-old Ashley Izaguirre was in the passenger side of Johnson's car. She was transported to University Hospital where she later died.

Police say that Johnson  crawled out of the car and had blood dripping down his forehead. The passengers of the truck were a 22-year-old woman and a 6-year-old girl.

“Officers on the scene said the male appeared intoxicated. Right now he’s facing a charge of intoxication manslaughter,” said Matthew Porter  of San Antonio Police Department.
