SAFD firefighter Brad Phipps able to talk, remains critically ill

SAN ANTONIO - Firefighter Brad Phipps remains critically ill after a deadly fire in the Ingram Square Shopping Center last month, according to the San Antonio Fire Department.

He has been taken off a ventilator and has reportedly been able to talk to visitors.

As KENS 5 reported, he was badly burned and injured in the fire that killed fellow SAFD firefighter Scott Deem.

Phipps is recovering at the burn intensive care unit at the San Antonio Military Medical Center.

SAFD said it is asking for the public's prayers to help him heal.
