Child tossed from balcony, adults jump to escape NW-side apartment fire

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Fire Department said two adults jumped from a second floor balcony of an apartment complex on the northwest side to escape a raging fire Friday night. A child was also reportedly tossed down to a police officer on scene.

According to San Antonio Fire Department spokesperson Joe Arrington, a San Antonio Police Department officer was transported to a local hospital as a precaution after catching that child.

SAFD said the two adults and child were also transported from the scene so they could be treated for minor injuries.

The fire broke out at the Riverstone Apartments in the 8700 block of Cinnamon Creek Drive at approximately 10:25 p.m. Friday.

Crews were working to put out "hotspots" around 11:15 p.m. At least four apartment units were affected.

SAFD said two dogs were also rescued from the fire.
