UTSA offers 'Black Women and Beyoncé' course, analyzes 'Lemonade'

SAN ANTONIO -- The University of Texas at San Antonio has a new class called "Black Women, Beyoncé and Popular Culture."

According to the UTSA magazine, the Sombrilla, English professor Kinitra Brooks is offering the class.

The course syllabus states the class will break down Beyoncé's latest album Lemonade, as well as her 'Formation' video.

It will also discuss themes of black feminism and women's issues highlighted in the album.

The professor said the class definitely won't be an easy "A." She expects students to work hard.

“The course will be new, fun, and exciting—but I expect my students to come in hungry for knowledge and open to new theories about race and gender in popular culture," Brooks told the campus magazine.

The class could force students out of their comfort zones.

Brooks has also been a co-instructor of the #BlackLivesMatter course offered at UTSA.
