For more than 50 years, people worshipped at The First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, a church rich in history and faith that’s now tainted with bloodshed.
The community and several families in town helped build the church, breaking ground in 1949, and now Dianne Koschemann fears that her family history may be wiped away if the church is demolished.
Her uncle, Johnny Baker, was on the church building committee, according to the history at the Sutherland Springs Historical Museum. Koschemann says that her father also helped build the church and she has fond memories of it.
KENS 5's Adi Guajardo has her story.
