SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Police released the name of the suspect in the murder of the mother of three found stabbed to death Saturday.
Samuel Pereida, 29, is charged with murder after being found next to the victim in an apartment bathroom.
County records show Pereida has two previous convictions for family violence, including one in Feb. 2016.
Around 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2 SAPD said they came to an apartment complex on the 1600 block of Jackson-Keller to conduct a welfare check on the victim at the request of her mother.
“We tried to make entry we could not get in there were no existing circumstances at the time so we did not force the door,” SAPD Chief Will McManus said.
Saturday morning SAPD were back again with the victim's mother.
This time, SAPD said they checked a side window and saw the victim stabbed to death on the floor. They entered the apartment and found Pereida in the bathroom threatening to kill himself after already suffering from self-inflicted wounds.
“We talked him out took him to the hospital he had injured himself and right now we're further evaluating him for psychological issues,” McManus said.
Neighbors stood by as crime scene investigators worked on the scene.
“I’ve lived here for about six years and nothing like this has ever happened here,” one neighbor said.
The couple's three children were not in the apartment at the time. Police said thankfully they are safe.
