SAPD assisting federal agents in manhunt near North Star Mall

SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio police, the Texas Department of Public Safety and the U.S. Postal Inspector's office were searching for a "wanted person" in the North Star Mall area Tuesday.

This comes after multiple reports of a shooting nearby. Officials said the incident began with a shooting at Jim's Restaurant located at the Loop 410 and Broadway.

One person was in custody but police were continuing to search for another person in the area, officials confirmed to KENS 5.

Police also asked the public to avoid the area in and around North Star Mall around 3:45 p.m.

It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured in the incident.

Ridgeview Elementary nearby was also on lockout Tuesday, meaning staff and students could leave the premises but no one could come into the school.

A spokesperson for the North East Independent School District said school was dismissed there at 2:30 p.m., and extra officers were on hand to help dismiss students.

People at the mall were reporting that it was on lockdown. Further details were not immediately available.
