SAPD identifies suspect in officer-involved shooting

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the suspect in Saturday’s officer-involved shooting has been identified as 23-year-old Oscar R. Perez Jr.

Police say that he’s currently being treated at SAMMC for non-life threatening injuries suffered when he was arrested. They add that he’s being charged with aggravated assault against a peace office, felon in possession of a firearm, and theft of a vehicle.

On Saturday, officers were looking for a carjacking suspect from an incident that had happened on Friday. They found the car at the Circle A-Z Food Mart on South Presa and Halliday Street.

Undercover officers approached the suspect as he was coming out of the store. Police believed he was going back to the car to grab a gun and rob the store.

The suspect came out of the car with a gun. Officers then fired several shots at the suspect.

There were two other males in the car with the suspect. They were taken into custody for questioning but were not arrested.
