SAPD: Man strangled woman, left note blaming her for the crime

Police said her boyfriend left a note near her body.

The San Antonio Police Department announced the arrest of a man who’s accused of strangling his girlfriend and blaming her for the crime.

The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, in conjunction with SAPD, arrested 40-year-old Paulo Chavez. Police said he faces a charge of murder for killing Idalia Celedon-Becerra on Monday, December 11.

The attack happened in the 3300 block of Morales Street on the west side. Officers said they found the victim's body sitting upright against a bed. Police said the 29-year-old was covered with a blanket.

SAPD said Chavez put a handwritten note on the bed next to her. According to an arrest document, the note said Chavez discovered Celedon-Becerra was having an affair with another man.

Police said he proclaimed his love for the mother of four in the correspondence.  He also reportedly said admitted to doing something stupid but it would have never happened had she not cheated.

Chavez is being held on a $250,000 bond.
