SAN ANTONIO - Witnesses at The Shops at La Cantera attempted to stop a robber who was allegedly stealing makeup from the Sephora store on a Saturday afternoon.
"The mere fact that this guy tried to commit this robbery at 1:30 in the afternoon at the Shops at La Cantera leaves a lot of witnesses and, at the same time, video surveillance, so we were able to get a good picture of him," said Officer Carlos Ortiz with the San Antonio Police Department.
SAPD says that a 5'8 Hispanic man in his 30s went into the Sephora store on September 30 and began grabbing makeup. When a store employee handed him a basket, he snatched it, injuring the employee, before taking off on foot from the store.
"He was actually pursued by a security guard and a store employee out into the parking lot, where he had a getaway driver waiting for him. He jumped in a vehicle and he fled the location," Officer Ortiz said.
Police got a call for a shooting in progress. A witness with a conceal carry handgun attempted to stop the suspects by firing at the getaway car. Several witnesses were able to get a description of the man and a picture of the car.
If you have any information about the man call, Crimestoppers at 224-STOP. Information leading to an arrest could be worth up to $5000.
