North Texas police use Taser on chase suspect running on I-30

The suspect in a police pursuit in Garland got out of his truck and ran into traffic on Interstate 30 Tuesday afternoon.

GARLAND, Texas — A police chase with Garland authorities ended with an officer using a Taser on the suspect as he fled across I-30 Tuesday afternoon.

Authorities say the suspect led police on a vehicle chase that started in Garland, went through Rowlett and then turned back around back into Garland.

At some point during the pursuit, the suspect drove on I-30 in the wrong direction before he eventually pulled over and abandoned the truck on the westbound service road of I-30 at Broadway Boulevard. The suspect then ran into eastbound traffic on I-30 as an officer followed. Just after the suspect jumped a median into the westbound lanes, the officer fired a Taser, violently throwing the suspect to the ground as a vehicle narrowly missed him.

Police haven't revealed what started the chase.
