Officer-involved shooting leaves suspect dead

A bar fight ended up with two victims injured and the suspect dead after an officer-involved shooting.

The fight started around 1 a.m. Saturday at Dad's Karaoke Club on the 2600 block of Mossrock and then turned into a shooting.

One victim was shot in the leg and a second victim was shot in the leg and arm, SAPD said.

The suspect fled the scene but police caught him at a nearby gas station. He was later identified as Richard Castilleja, 29.

There was some sort of altercation and then the officer felt threatened and fatally shot Castilleja, SAPD said.

The officer is said to be on administrative duty now, per department policy.

The two victims were treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police said Castilleja and a woman were at the bar and started some kind of fight and were asked to leave. The pair returned to the bar and the woman was going to act as the getaway driver after Castilleja fired shots.

The woman, 25-year-old Desiree Castilleja, was booked on two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Bexar County records indicate Richard Castilleja had been arrested at least 15 times with the latest being in 2002.
