Mother sentenced to life in infant son's strangling death

SAN ANTONIO -- A mother was sentenced to life in prison after she pleaded guilty to strangling her three-day-old son to death.

As KENS 5 reported, an employee at an east-side recycling plant found Nidia Alvarado's baby's body in a duffel bag in 2013.

Alvarado pleaded guilty to reportedly avoid the death penalty.

She must serve 30 years in prison before she can be eligible for parole.
