San Antonio man arrested for injury to the elderly

SAN ANTONIO -- A San Antonio man has been arrested and charged with Injury to the Elderly causing serious bodily injury, which is a felony offense under state law.

Investigators say that Christopher Farias, 45, attacked his father-in-law outside the 65-year-old man’s home on W. Wildwood for no apparent reason. On Nov. 8, police say Farias knocked on the door of the man’s home asking him to come outside and when he did, he tackled, kicked and punched him numerous times causing bruises, cuts, broken ribs and other injuries.

When the victim called for help, the neighbors came outside and Farias ran to his car, fleeing from the area. The victim told police he had no idea why the assault happened. He told police he was afraid Farias might return and cause further harm to himself or his family.

Farias has a criminal record that includes family violence assault, aggravated kidnapping, evading arrest and deadly conduct, according to information in the affidavit for arrest warrant. Police said Farias is considered an immediate threat.
