Police say Kirby man attacked by stepdad with machete

KIRBY, Texas (AP) — A 22-year-old man has told police in the San Antonio area that his stepfather attacked him with a machete.

Police in Kirby, an enclave of San Antonio, say officers found the man on the driveway outside a home bleeding from cuts to his neck, face and hands and found his 39-year-old stepfather with a machete inside the garage at the home.

The older man also was wounded. Authorities say the stepson hit him in the head with a metal ladder while defending himself.

Kirby police did not identify either man. Both were taken to hospitals with injuries officials say are not life-threatening. Police said Saturday the stepfather would be transferred to the Bexar County Jail.
