East-side shooting leaves 7-year-old wounded, 3-year-old also hurt

SAPD says that a 7-year-old has been shot on the east side, the result of gang violence.

Two young boys are recovering after a shooting on the east side that police say was the result of hang violence.

The San Antonio Police Department says that a 7-year-old boy was shot near the mouth while a 3-year-old boy was grazed in the head by a bullet. The 7-year-old is in good condition at University Hospital while the 3-year-old boy was treated at the scene.

The shooting happened just before 7 p.m. at the Palms apartment complex on the 3700 block of East Commerce. Police say that the shooting may have been in retaliation for a previous incident in the area.

“It’s just insane that someone would put anyone in jeopardy of being shot, let alone two little kids. It’s terrible,” SAPD Chief William McManus said.

Police say that two people are in custody but have not been charged as the investigation continues.
