DA to seek death penalty for suspect accused of killing SAPD detective

According to the district attorney's office, the prosecution will seek the death penalty in the trial of Otis McKane, who is accused of killing Detective Benjamin Marconi.

McKane is accused of walking up to the San Antonio Police Department patrol car that Detective Marconi was sitting in and shooting Marconi twice in the head.

"This is cold, calculated murder. This was an execution. This was evil," Bexar County District Attorney Nico LaHood previously said about the case.

McKane faces a capital murder charge for the killing. He made his first appearance in court in late December but his next court appearance has not yet been scheduled, according to the DA's office.
