Converse police investigating murder of 16-year-old

A 16-year-old identified as Reggie Adams was found dead of a gunshot wound to the head at a Converse apartment complex on Sunday.

CONVERSE - Police say that they've made an arrest in connection to the murder of a 16-year-old boy in Converse on Sunday.

David Martinez, II confessed to shooting and killing 16-year-old Reggie Adams during a drug deal, according to police.

It happened at the Town Square Apartments in northeast Bexar County.

One witness, who didn’t want to go on camera, lives in the apartment complex and heard the gunshots.

“Just to go down and cover because you don’t even know where the gunshots are coming from,” the resident said.

“When the fire and EMS got there, they tried some life-saving treatments, but they had to pronounce him dead,” Converse Police Chief Fidel Villegas said.

The calls came in just after 1 p.m. on Sunday. As word of the shooting spread, Adams’s mother got word that she had to do something painful.

“The mother actually came out and identified her son,” Chief Villegas said.

Police say Reggie told his family that he was meeting some acquaintances before the shooting.

Police say that they found the red Dodge vehicle that they were looking for shortly after the shooting and combed it for evidence.

Martinez drove away from the crime scene and was arrested along I-35. Police say he took officers to the area where he stashed the murder weapon.
