Assault suspect killed in officer-involved shooting in far NW Bexar Co.

A man is dead following a domestic disturbance and officer-involved shooting in far northwest Bexar County Friday.

The incident began when deputies received a call to the 24000 block of Walnut Pass about a woman who had been assaulted, according to Bexar County Sheriff's Office PIO, James Keith.

Upon arrival, deputies found a woman had been visibly assaulted. Deputies a child may have also been assaulted.

Deputies also found a man at the scene they believed to be a suspect in the assault. When deputies tried to arrest the man, he resisted and fought back, said Keith.

The suspect appeared to have a knife, so deputies attempted to use non-lethal force to stop man, but were unsuccessful.

According to Keith, at that point, deputies released fire on him. The victim was hit, and later died.

Two deputies have been placed on paid administrative leave while the shooting in investigated.
