One of the victims in a horrific crash Sunday morning has been identified.

88-year old John Cardenas was inside his home when a driver veered off the street and crashed into Cardenas' house. The crash ruptured a gas line that exploded, engulfing the house in flames in moments.

The incident occurred just after 2 a.m. Sunday in the 4200 block of Timberhill Drive.

"It was just so horrific to see something like this," said Valerie Gonzales. "I did not see anybody get out of the car. I didn't see anybody get out of the house."

Bystanders attempted to rescue the two, but the flames were too intense.

There is no word about what caused the car to veer out of control and strike the house.

The Medical Examiners office says it could take up to a week before the driver of the car is identified.
