Two parents are in police custody, accused of severely beating their two-year-old toddler.
Police say Mauricio Cisneros Ramirez and Belinda Lopez, both from San Antonio, were taken into custody after paramedics found “suspicious” injuries when they arrived at their house on Sun Valley Drive Saturday morning.
"It was discovered that the little girl was suffering from several serious injuries to large broken bones, cerebral hemorrhaging, internal injuries - a whole variety of grave injuries,” said Sgt. Javier Salazar of the San Antonio Police Department.
The two-year-old was transported to Methodist Hospital in critical condition.
Authorities said there were other children in the household who have now been taken by Child Protective Services.
The parents face Injury to a child charges which can carry a sentence of 99 years in prison.
