Two boys shot in east side drive-by are recovering

2 Boys recovering after drive-by

SAN ANTONIO - SAN ANTONIO -- Police say that two boys, one 8 years old and one 15 years old, were shot Wednesday evening around 8:40 p.m. while they were sitting in their home. It happened on the 2700 block of East Houston street on the city's east side.

Police believe that the incident was a drive-by shooting that could have been gang related. They don't believe that the shooter hit the right house. The 8-year-old boy was shot in the chest, but both boys are expected to make a full recovery. A 12-year-old family member was also with the two boys but was not injured.

The shooter also shot a neighboring house but no one was injured there.

On Thursday evening police were still looking for a suspect. Neighbors on that block are trying to make sense of what happened.

"Those were some very good kids, they don't bother nobody. They just stay to themselves, they play in the backyard and they got some dogs to protect them that didn't do no good. They were just inside minding their own business," one neighbor said.

Nearby, residents also seemed to be concerned about the growing violence in the area.

"I'm very worried about it. It's starting to happen a lot in the neighborhood and something needs to be done about it," another neighbor said.
