Chances are, because of the extreme heat of this past summer, your electric bill was higher than it has ever been. Well, imagine how iritated you would be if you found out you were being charged a higer rate than you should be, and the electric company wouldn't work with you. Stacy Peoples moved into her new home in December of last year. Right away she noticed her electric bill. It was $200 to $265. When it became unreasonable she took a closer look at her billing statement. That is when she noticed that she was being billed as 'small commercial'. When she called Floresville Electric the customer service rep told her she signed up for the service and signed the papers. They said it was her responsibility the rate wasn't changed, and refused to give her a refund. General manager David McMillan says it was the co-op's fault. When a home is under construction it is was under commercial, he said. He also said the customer service rep should have seen it was a home, and should have switched the rate. McMillan said the co-op will be looking into it to make sure it isn't happening to anyone else. The electric company said they will be sending Stacy a refund. That will be roughly $250.
