Don't throw it out with the junk mail. You're about to get something in your mailbox that could bring a lot of money to San Antonio.

The city and Bexar County launched the 2010 Census San Antonio Campaign Tuesday. 600,000 people will get forms in the mail, and the city is urging residents to take a few minutes to fill one out..

"We are asking each and every resident of Bexar County to be counted," said San Antonio Mayor Julian Castro.

"The census is important to this community because federal and state funding for community centers, for emergency services, for our transportation network are intimately linked to how many individuals are counted in the census," said Castro.

Castro, along with other city officials and Archbishop Jose Gome,z gathered on the steps of City Hall on Tuesday to get the word out. They say getting an accurate count is important because the numbers will determine where $400 billion in federal funding will go.

Officials with the U.S. Census bureau remind residents to note that all information collected in the Census is confidential..

The questionnaire is the shortest in history, with just ten questions. It should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.
