Raymond Glover says he spends a lot of time on the internet, checking out sites and filling out surveys. Many of these surveys promise to enter you into a foreign lottery. Last week Glover received an email saying he had won more than 7 million dollars in a British lottery. He was pretty excited, but pretty skeptical, too. He emailed them back, filling out their informaiton form which included his phone number. Several days later he received a phone call telling him how to collect his money. Two of his options were flying to Germany to personally collect it or he could send $200 by Western Union and his money would be deposited into an account of his choosing. Glover was doubtful, but his hope began to outweigh his skepticism. When he told his mother about it she suggested contacting Eyewitness Wants To Know to check it out. We told Raymond right off the bat, it was a scam. But the interesting twist in this scam was the fact that his "confirmaiton" material included what looked like a real FBI identification card and an FBI badge, an American passport and an official looking UK Lottery Commission ID badge. The FBI says they are never involved in any lotteries, anywhere in the world. We forward Glover's emails to the FBI and they tell us they just might do a little more investigation into a lottery scam that tries to convince victims it's backed by the FBI.
