Marjorie Campbell says she just cried.
December 17, she was having workers from Carpet World install new carpet in her home.
While moving some furniture, one of the workers broke a ceramic Christmas tree. But it wasn't just a ceramic Christmas tree.
Campbell had bugged her sister for years to let her have that tree. It wasn't an overly expensive thing, just a 3 1/2-foot-tall ceramic ornament that Marjorie liked.
Finally the sister relented and let her have it. A few months later the sister died, so the tree had special meaning.
Carpet World accepted responsibility and said they would pay for the tree. The next day Campbell noticed huge gouge marks in her laminate flooring where the tree had hit.
She called Carpet World and they sent someone out to inspect the damage. They agreed to repair the floor and left. Fast forward almost 3 months, and numerous calls, and the damage is still there.
We called and spoke with Carpet World President Jeff De Rojas who made no excuses.
He said it was their responsibility and they would meet it.
De Rojas did tell us during that time frame the company had remodeled their headquarters store and restructured personnel. Unfortunately Campbell's claim got lost in the shuffle.
He called Campbell and offered a sincere apology, offered to pay for the Ceramic tree to try to replace the memento and, since Campbell's flooring is discontinued, Carpet World says it will replace her entire laminate flooring.
