Larry & Gay Greene traveled the country but new they wanted to retire in San Antonio. They had a new home built by Woodside Homes. Shortly after they moved in, in October the Greenes began to see problems. Whenever it got cold condensation would form on the inside of their windows. When it got cold that condensation turned to ice. Then as it melted it seeped into the drywall and mold began to grow.
The Greenes contacted the builder which sent crews to test the windows for problems. The builder says the homes passed with flying colors. They then sent the window manufacturer to test the windows. Again the windows exceeded industry standards, so Woodside homes refused to deal with the issue under the home warranty.
In December a bigger problem was flushed out...literally. The toilet tank in the front bathroom cracked during the night and flooded the home. The Greene's insurance company took the tank to test it to determine if it broke or was broken. In the meantime Woodside Homes also sent a plumbing contractor out who says the tank broke because of "excessive force" so Woodside refused to cover that.
We called Woodside's corporate office in Salt Lake City, Utah and they said they want all their customers to be happy, but after having the windows tested they stand behind the windows and the installation. They also say the issue could be caused because the "Greenes keep their home cooler than most" and "have plantation shutters on their windows" which don't allow warmer air to reach the windows. On the toilet tank issue, they say if the Greenes insurance company determines the toilet tank was defective, Woodside will conduct a complete investigation and if a defect is found will cover reasonable costs."
