SAN ANTONIO -- Tim Nicholson just wanted his daughter's car repaired. The front end of the 99 Saab 9.3 convertible was heavily damaged when Nicholson's daughter had an accident. They only carry liability insurance on it so the repair costs would have to come out of Nicholson's pocket.
He took the car to Pro Series Collision at the intersection of Grissom AND Timberland Drive. Pro Series' owner, Luis Solis, told Nicholson he could make it look new again for around $2,000, if Nicholson supplied the parts.
Nicholson went to Pic-N-Pull and got everything that was needed and took it to Solis. He also gave him $800 toward the repairs.
A year later work had not begun. Through that year Nicholson said he stopped by and called between 30 and 40 times trying to urge Solis to get to work on the car.
After he saw KENS 5 run a story on Solis Nicholson called to say the problem was much worse than we knew. Nicholson met us at the shop, as did Julia Zamora. Zamora's son's car had been in the shop for about a year as well.
Eventually Nicholson, Zamora and at least two other customers had to get the police to force Solis to give their cars back. Nicholson says Solis apologized and said he would try to find a way to get the money back to him.
Nicholson says he's not going to hold his breath. He also had his daughter's car towed to another shop to have it repaired.
