San Antonio's famous Mi Tierra celebrates 75 years

Major milestone for S.A. foodie family

With mariachis, dancers, and a lot of proud San Antonians, legendary Mexican restaurant and bakery Mi Tierra celebrated 75 years on Thursday night.

"San Antonio might not be perfect, but it's the best city in the world," Ron Reagan said.

"Most family businesses don't make it this far so it really is an honor,” said Pete Cortez, the founder’s grandson. "She was 20 years old when all of this started."

Cortez credits the business' success to the help of many others that wanted his family to succeed.

"The real magic behind everything is our people,” he said. “We have great employees that work for us."

The anniversary also lands on the eve of Mexico's Independence Day. Mi Tierra will honor the "El Grito" tradition.

"We celebrate the cry of independence from Spain," Cortez said.

"It feels good. You feel nostalgia," Ofelia Espinoza said.
