SAN ANTONIO -- KENS 5 talked with a local company that offers everything from searching computers and cell phones to conducting sex stings and decoys, all to uncover the hidden girlfriends and boyfriends.
Scott Browderhausen is a private investigator who runs a local company called the San Antonio Computer Doctor. Part of his business is designed to catch cheaters.
He says in a city of more than a million people, there are bound to be a few people with wandering eyes, and then there are those who decide to act on their temptations.
Browderhausen is hired by clients to investigate their significant others in order to find out whether they're being faithful.
"They see a particular website or graphic or something that got them suspicious, and they would call us and say, 'Hey, I think something is going on,'" Browderhausen said.
In most situations, something is going on, he said.
"I was surprised how much of this goes on," Browderhausen said. "In over 99 percent of my cases, I've been able to find what the customer suspected."
In about in hour, Browderhausen can go into a home and copy a computer's entire hard drive. That also includes just about everything the user thought he or she deleted.
"We've been doing the forensic investigations where we would make an image of the hard drive and bring it back to the lab where we would analyze it though our forensic means, and we would find not only what they were looking for but we usually found a lot more," he said.
In some cases, looking through a computer or going through a cell phone still isn't enough to find out the truth.
Browderhausen also can send out decoys to try to entice the significant other. Both women and men are available for clients who want to see whether their partner can be enticed.
"People come to me because they want to know the truth, and sometimes the truth hurts, but they need to know so they can plan and move on with their lives," he said.
In most cases, Browderhausen said it's a plan that's cheater-free.
