Arrest made in east-side man's death, more expected

Arrest made in east-side murder

SAN ANTONIO -- Police expect more arrests in the case of an east-side man's murder.

Royce Reese Jr. was arrested Tuesday and charged with capital murder in connection with Ramon Rivera's death.

The San Antonio Police Department said Reese is accused of beating 31-year-old Rivera to death Thursday after an argument over money.

Investigators also claim the victim's ex-girlfriend conspired with Reese and three other people.

The ex-girlfriend was reportedly driven to Rivera's house by the suspects as they waited around the corner.

According to police, she signaled to the men that she was leaving and they walked in and attacked Rivera with an ax.

Investigators said they believe Reese is the one who hit Rivera over the head with an ax.

The group is also accused of taking off with Rivera's SUV and some tools.

Detectives tracked Reese down after someone spotted the dead man's vehicle.

In a warrant for Reese's arrest, other suspects are named in connection with this case.
