Jason and Sandra Salas needed a bigger vehicle to haul their two teenage kids and their 2-year-old around. They went looking and drove past Del Greco Motors on San Pedro. It was there they spotted a clean looking 2002 Chevy Tahoe.
The couple ended up writing a check for $9,000 and drove the Tahoe home, with the promise they would receive the title in the mail. A month went by and they still didn't have the title, so they called Mike Del Greco. They say Del Greco promised the title would arrive within a couple of weeks. Two weeks went by and nothing.
They called Del Greco again. This time he told them by Friday. Friday came and Del Greco said Monday. More than 36 Fridays and Mondays went by, so the Salases called Eyewitness Wants To Know. We went by and spoke with Del Greco.
He admitted he had fallen on hard financial times and was trying to work his way out of them. He promised he would call the finance company that held the title, pay them off and get the title for the truck by Friday.
True to his word, Del Greco paid the finance company the money to clear the title and took care of the family's registration and plates. Now the Salases can drive the truck without fear of it being repossessed by the finance company.
