Every year, more than 3,000 people apply for a chance to be a firefighter for the city of San Antonio.
The San Antonio Fire Department is partnering with Café College to offer free mentoring for interested applicants.
That extra help is being offered just in time, as 100 “What would you do?”-type questions are added to the exam.
Out of the thousands that apply, about 30 are accepted, said Christian Bove with SAFD.
"Because this is such a competitive exam, and we are offering such a small number of people... a lot of these people take the test multiple years," Bove said.
Despite the addition of the new questions, the department said they want everyone to do well and be better prepared.
