Uvalde - New details on a murder-suicide in Uvalde. Police said an 80 year old man called 911 just before it all happened.

The elderly man had placed his wife in a nursing home about a year ago. Uvalde invesigators said he had been dating a 44 year old woman for a couple of months.

A phone call to 911. Uvalde police said 80 year old Elias Varela made the call. Varela asked the operator to send police officers to his home for a murder-suicide. It was a short call police took serious.

When Uvalde officers made their way to the 300 block of Northeast Lane they knocked on the door and then heard a single gun shot.

Police found 44 year old Rosemary Barrera shot dead. Investigators believe she was Varela's girlfriend. They said he shot her then called 911 before shooting himself.

"I was shocked," said Paul Costilla, who lives a few houses down.

Neighbors said they often saw the couple but didn't know them. They don't understand why this all happened.

"It wasn't like you heard arguing or fighting or anything," said Grace Costilla, neighbor.

Police don't have a motive. The only thing they found inside the home was a note left by Varela asking for God's forgiveness and how he wanted his estate devided.
