DALLAS — A woman in the ninth month of pregnancy was killed, but her baby was saved after a rollover accident early Sunday morning.
Investigators said 35-year-old Shachela Womack's 15-year-old son was driving when the vehicle rolled over on Belt Line Road near Eagle Ford Drive in far southwest Dallas at 12:40 a.m. Sunday.
Womack, of Arlington, was pronounced dead soon after she was rushed to Methodist Dallas Medical Center. Doctors were able to deliver and save the baby.
The teen driving, a 5-year-old child and a female adult passenger were also rushed to the hospital and are expected to survive.
The baby was in the neonatal intensive care unit at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.
Authorities continue to investigate how the teen lost control of the vehicle.
