NEW BRAUNFELS -- A two-year-old boy was pronounced dead at Christus New Braunfels Hospital on Friday night after drowning at a residence in the 1900 block of Logans Pass.
The drowning victim, identified as Christian Moreno, and another child were being watched by a 16-year-old babysitter in the backyard, according to a New Braunfels Police Department news release.
When the babysitter went inside, the boy opened the gate surrounding the below-ground swimming pool and entered the water. That's when he began drowning, according to the release.
The other child witnessed Christian entering the pool and went to notify the babysitter.
After retrieving Christian from the water, the babysitter started CPR on the unconscious boy.
At this time, police are still investigating the incident and do not suspect foul play was involved.
