STOCKDALE -- Texas Rangers have joined the Wilson County Sheriff Office in combing through the evidence of a bizarre crime in a rural community that left a couple dead and their son injured.
The deceased have been identified as 54-year-old Steven Lambeck and 50-year-old Ramona Lambeck.
They couple were found fatally shot inside their bedroom after their 29-year-old son called police to their home off County Road 401 early Thursday morning.
The son, who suffered a gunshot wound to the shoulder, has been identified as Tyson Lambeck. He was taken to San Antonio Military Medical Center.
Wilson County Sheriff Joe Tackitt, Jr. said there were no signs of forced entry and nothing appears to be missing from the home.
Tackitt said the Tyson called 911 around 3 a.m. and reported that some acquaintances had been over to the house around the time the shooting occurred.
More than a dozen yellow flags were planted in the victims' yard on Thursday, marking live bullets that were apparently dropped or dumped during the shooting.
Neighbor Susan Deagen was shocked.
“This is a tight-knit, little family, little community. You’re connected so much with the families. This is going to devastate this community. It’s awful. This is awful,” she said.
Authorities clarified that Ramona Lambeck was Tyson's stepmother.
Stockdale is about 25 miles east of San Antonio.
