A third arrest has been made in connection to a murder outside a north-side convenience store.
Police said the victim, 41-year-old Juan Romero, was attacked by three men outside the Diamond D Food Mart on Vance Jackson back in October.
Now the third suspect, 29-year-old Jose Velez, is in custody. He was arrested on Tuesday by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on a first degree felony warrant.
A witness came forward with information that led to Velez's arrest, authorities said.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force officers and the SAPD Repeat Offenders Program unit had established that Velez was living in an apartment on Marbach Road.
Investigators said Romero got into an argument with Velez, 25-year-old Bernardo Crisanto and41-year-old Larry Castro at a San Antonio sports bar.
The three men later caught up to Romero at a gas station in the 2300 block of Vance Jackson, where they brutally beat him, authorities say. Romero died as a result of that beating.
According to officers at the U.S. Marshals Service, Castro and Crisanto surrendered to authorities shortly after the assault. But, prior to his Tuesday arrest, Velez had been a fugitive since the October 15 crime.
Velez is being held in the Bexar County Jail on a $250,000 bond.
