Bexar County investigators are looking into a theft case involving Gold's Gym.
Detectives say on August 5, suspects swiped the cards right out of victims' lockers at the Gold's Gym located at FM 78 and Walzem Road.
A break in the case came on August 21, after detectives recovered some of the stolen property during a routine SAPD traffic stop.
Authorities say the driver, 24-year-old Tristan Bates, was arrested for drug possession. In the trunk of his vehicle, officers discovered a gym bag, along with several broken locks, keys, even a bolt cutter. The items led detectives back to the Gold's Gym theft case. Detectives were then able to obtain surveillance photos at a Walmart gas station in Converse. The pictures showed various vehicles being pumped with gas. Authorities said the fuel was paid for with the stolen credit cards. Bates' maroon Cadillac was also caught on surveillance at the gas station. Detectives say he could be facing more charges in the near future. Detectives are also looking for a Hispanic man who goes by the name of "Junior." They say he's between 20-25 years old, and frequents the Walzem Road and Austin Highway area. Those with information are asked to call the Bexar County Sheriffs Office at 210-335-TIPS.
