HOUSTON—If all goes according to plan, Jessica Sommer will meet her son Christian face-to-face for the first time at 12:12 p.m. Wednesday 12/12/12.
“Everyone’s excited. It’s fun. Born 12/12/12. How often can you do that? Well once,” Sommer said with a hearty laugh about her hospital plans for Wednesday.
Sommer, 41, of Rosharon, is already the mother of two young girls but when her doctor told her the due date for Christian Sommer was the 17th of December she and her doctor agreed to aim for the 12th instead. The girls were born by C-section. So they made a noon appointment for Christian.
“I have prayed for six years for a boy,” said. “And it’s just a neat thing,” she said of the attempt at a unique birthday for her son. “And all his life he’ll say his birthday is 12/12/12.”
“I am crazy, that’s fine,” she said with a laugh. “You can’t spell dysfunction without fun.”
But if the hospital visit doesn’t go as planned and Christian arrives on the 13th instead of the 12th, Sommer is OK with that too as long as he’s happy and healthy.
Plus, her lucky number is 13.
“It is. Seriously,” she said. “So we’d be good with that. But it will be 12/12.”
“We’ve already billed the insurance. It’s gonna happen on 12/12!”
So the 12th day of the 12th month of the year 2012 is on schedule, and on the calendar, to be a joyous day for the Sommer family in Rosharon.—Unless Christian decides arriving at 12 pounds would make the day interesting, too.
