"Thank you for doing this," Isiah Spivey said to his older brother. "Make me feel better and not have sickle cell," he said.
For ten years, Isiah has battled sickle cell disease.
He had a stroke when he was only three years old. He's endured countless chemo treatments and more than 100 blood transfusions.
Now he faces the next big step. A possible cure
At 5 a.m. Wednesday morning, he will have a bone marrow transfusion. The donor is his very own 12-year-old brother, Israel.
"Isiah suffers with sickle cell disease," said Billie Spivey, his mother. "It affects the blood flow in his body. He had a stroke at the age of three. This has been 10 years of severe pain," she added.
Spiderman has been Isiah's ultimate superhero. But now his-12 year-old brother will have that title Wednesday.
Ironically, Israel turns 13 on Thursday, and he's the one giving his little brother a gift. A cure.
"The medicine is going to go through my body," said Isiah.
