Mayor Julian Castro is helping students ease the burden of college expenses.
Castro spent Saturday morning out at South San High School to kick off Student Aid Saturdays.
The program offers help for students filing out financial aid forms, or FAFSA.
Studies show those who fill out a FAFSA are 350 percent more likely to go to college. The mayor says he wants to help San Antonio students realize they can afford an education.
"It's important because in this 201st century global economy knowledge is power," he said. "It's the new currency of success. So you need something after of high school."
Mayor Castro says the success of our city depends on the future generations.
