SAN ANTONIO -- They might not have won the title but the Spurs are still heroes to their fans, who started lining up outside the San Antonio airport on Friday morning to wait for the chance to cheer on their team as they stepped off their flight home from Miami.
"Go Spurs Go! Go Spurs Go!" was shouted from from hundreds of fans lined up behind police barricades. The sentiment was the same among fans: They support the players whether they win or lose.
The players immediately exited their airplane and lumbered to their cars, where they unloaded their personal belongings. Coach Gregg Popovich and some of the players spoke briefly to the crowd through a microphone.
